The winter wonderland that is soon to be upon us is not always described as a wonderland. Unfortunately, it’s more often slushy, dark, bitterly cold and doesn’t make for a fun photo session backdrop, specifically if there are small children involved! This Canadian winter environment causes runny noses, rosy cheeks and struggles with bulky winter wear. But this season does not mean family or newborn sessions have to be postponed. I have the perfect studio space with beautiful natural light and so much more available for capturing precious moments between parents and their children.
Each family is guaranteed to feel warm and relaxed during their studio session with a fully functioning, kid safe fireplace to keep the winter cold outside. Not only is the studio kept warm and cozy, the couches and furniture are low, wooden toys are provided for the little ones to play with, soft blankets and included studio wardrobe put families at ease. It is tailored to young families to keep sessions light, fun and stress-free. Taking a play-based approach, allowing children to play with whatever toys intrigue them, provides a safe space for them to enjoy. This space, combined with a play-based or baby-led approach, provides the perfect atmosphere for creating heirloom quality pieces to cherish for a lifetime.
Some parents may ask, why not an in-home session during the winter months? I have done in-home sessions, and families have shared with me that cleaning and decluttering their home can be a huge source of stress. The rush of getting the house tidied and getting the family dressed & ready can be overwhelming and take away from the fun of the session.
Kids want to play and have fun, which sometimes leads to a mess, but they cannot do that when Mom and Dad are in a panic to have the house “photo shoot ready”. Instead of a mad dash to clean your home, take a deep breath and step into my studio. Your chosen clothing will be washed, steamed and ready upon your arrival to wear for the session. Come and play with your kids, leave the mess behind and laundry to me. This is a much easier and worry-free option for everyone in the family.
