Newborn Sessions
From the wardrobe consultation, to the design of your framed portraits, my goal is to make sure you feel calm and at-ease throughout the entire process. My photography sessions are designed just for you, Mama. I want you to be able to sit back, relax and take in the joy of your growing family. With a baby-led approach and a studio atmosphere designed to keep everyone comfortable, you can focus more on your family and less on the stress of a traditional photography session.
Pre-photography session jitters are a real thing, and over the years I’ve picked up a few tricks to take stress out of the equation, particularly for new parents! It’s completely normal to feel some butterflies before your session. There’s just so much on our minds as new parents. But when you walk into the studio, you’ll be at ease knowing that I’ve tailored an experience aimed at making life a little bit easier for you while you navigate these early days of parenthood. On session day, your job is to get here, and I’ll take care of the rest.
The beauty of a baby-led approach is that we’re not stuck following a rigid shot list or strict timeline during your little one’s first photography session. If your newborn is fussy or hungry, we’ll take a break and tend to their needs. We’ll stick to simple, neutral props and blankets to create natural images showcasing every beautiful detail of your baby at this age. Fingers, toes or that swirl of hair.
Your baby’s sleep schedule is also something I take into consideration with my baby-led approach. When you arrive at the studio and your little one is sleeping, we will start with baby posed photographs. If you arrive and they are wide awake, we will start with family images. I keep sessions very flexible while paying attention to cues from your baby, as well as Mama, who may still be recovering from birth. I will always check in with parents to make sure everyone is comfortable and happy.
Clothing plays an important role in the look and feel of your session but choosing clothing for your family can feel like a challenge! To take this off your hands, I have curated a studio wardrobe that you can borrow from. We’ll schedule a wardrobe consultation prior to your session where you’ll get to try on different options and we’ll create a look that will be comfortable and save you money too! I have a wide selection of empire waist dresses that are comfortable, come in a variety of different colours and many are nursing-friendly. The best part is, that when you pack everyone up to leave for your session, you can stay in your comfies and change into freshly steamed clothing when you arrive at the studio.
Pre-session stress is completely normal, Mama, but know that I’ve tailored your session to the individual needs of your family and lifestyle. I invite you to press pause, slow down and focus on the beauty of your family.
